Creating a life beyond your wildest dreams? 3 ways to reconnect with inspiration in your yoga practice

Who else is standing on the edge of MASSIVE change in their lives? It's not just me, thank goodness! Whether you’re navigating a career shift, moving to a new city, starting a new relationship, or embarking on a personal transformation journey, change can be both exhilarating and daunting.

While it’s super exciting to embrace new opportunities, it’s also natural to feel a bit uncomfortable. But remember, as the saying goes, nothing is more uncomfortable than staying in the same place.

So, you want to create a life beyond your wildest dreams... but how exactly do you go about doing this?

 

Step one: GET CLEAR ON WHAT IT IS YOU WANT.

 

If you don’t know what it is that you want, the universe cannot help deliver the support, love, resources, and opportunities to get you where you want to go in your life.

And if you need help getting clear on what it is you want, expanding your mind to dream BIG, reaching for those big scary goals, and tapping into inspiration, here are 3 ways you can use your yoga practice to do just that:

 

1. Cultivate Mental Clarity. 

Yoga, especially through the practice of pranayama (breath control), helps you quiet the mind and achieve mental clarity. By synchronizing your breath and movements, you create a state of calm and focus that allows you to break free from the chaos of everyday life. This clarity helps you identify your true desires and set clear, intentional goals.

Pranayama Practice: Nadi Shodhana (Alternate Nostril Breathing)

  • Sit comfortably with your spine straight and shoulders relaxed.
  • Close your right nostril with your right thumb, and inhale deeply through your left nostril.
  • Close your left nostril with your right ring finger, release your right nostril, and exhale fully through your right nostril.
  • Inhale deeply through your right nostril, close it with your right thumb, release your left nostril, and exhale fully through your left nostril.
  • Repeat this cycle for 5-10 minutes to balance the mind and promote mental clarity.

 

2. Ignite Your Creativity. 

Yoga encourages you to connect with your inner self, fostering a sense of creativity and innovation. When you flow through poses and sequences, allow yourself to explore new variations and movements. Challenge your body and mind to think outside the box and imagine the possibilities. This creative exploration can inspire you to dream bigger and set ambitious goals that resonate with your authentic self.

Journal Prompt: Finding Creativity in Your Flow

After your yoga practice, take a few moments to journal about your experience. Ask yourself:

  • What new movements or poses did I explore today?
  • How did these new experiences make me feel?
  • In what ways can I bring this sense of creativity and exploration into other areas of my life? Reflecting on these questions can help you tap into your creative potential and inspire new ideas and goals.

 

3. Set and Reinforce Intentions. 

At the start of your yoga practice, set a powerful intention that aligns with your dreams and aspirations. Throughout your practice, revisit this intention and use it as a guiding light. By continuously reinforcing your intention, you cultivate a strong belief in your ability to achieve your goals. This consistent focus helps you stay committed and motivated, even when faced with challenges.

Intention Setting Activity

Before you begin your yoga practice, take a few moments to sit quietly and reflect on your goals and dreams. Ask yourself:

  • What is one goal or aspiration I want to focus on today?
  • How do I want to feel as I work towards this goal?
  • What positive affirmation can I repeat to myself throughout my practice to stay motivated? Write down your intention and keep it nearby. During your practice, remind yourself of this intention and use it as a source of inspiration and strength.

Incorporating these practices into your yoga routine can profoundly impact your ability to dream big and tap into a wellspring of inspiration. Embrace the journey, trust the process, and watch as your practice transforms not only your body but also your mind and spirit.
